Bare It All
Posted by Jo in Concept Cars (November 9, 2007 at 2:53 am)Rat rod is the original hot rod style of the early 1950’s wherein the not so important parts of it were removed. Different parts and pieces of different makes and models complete it. What makes rat rod different from others is it is simply built to run without any concern for its appearance. Rat rod does not need to be that glamorous or have that great finish painting or design.
A rat rod may look unfinished but it is actually finish already, the barer the better. The important is that every thing in the rat rod – interior and exterior is functional, though this may vary because of the rat rodder’s taste. The owner of the rat rod does most of the work. A rat rodder may wish to paint it or just live it bare, but most of the painting rat rods have is the rust color, or really bare. There is no ideal rat rod looks, each rat rod is uniquely made. There have been some idea that rat rod is not safe to drive because of its bareness and the absence of parts that would supposedly keep the driver in safe. Well, that is what actually makes it unique and that’s what matters in a rat rod.
