If you have watched the documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car?”, you might have been sincerely moved by the points given there. After all, if you come to think of the benefits that these electric cars can do for you and for the environment, it really is depressing to know that we might be all driving electric cars right now.

Electric cars, as the name suggests, are vehicles that make use of electricity as its source of power instead of the conventional gasoline. Electricity makes the car run and such energy is stored in a rechargeable battery. You would not find a gasoline motor in this type of car. Instead, you would discover that it uses an electric motor.

More and more people are turning towards electric vehicles. The main reason for the shift was more of a financial issue rather than an environmental one. People have become weary of the increasing and skyrocketing fuel prices and electric vehicles have become the alternative answer to the problem. You only need to recharge the batteries for four hours at the very least and that would be all you need to spend. You would be saving quite a huge amount compared to refilling your vehicle with gasoline that costs much.

Because electric cars do not use fossil fuel, there is a zero percent emission. This means that this type of vehicle does not add to the heightening problem of pollution and global warming. So in essence, you are saving much because you do not need to go to fueling stations and you also are helping take care of our surroundings.

At present, more and more car manufacturers are venturing in the development and design of electric cars. After all, it is what the market is clamoring for. In a few years’ time, it would not be surprising if there would be more electric cars on the streets than gasoline-powered ones.
