Hot rods really are hot. Although why it is called such has been speculated over and the public has yet to find a definite answer, what is sure is that these hot rods are simply one of the best vehicles that the automotive world has ever seen.

It is not just hearsay but it is a truth that hot rods have become a culture in itself. At present, for example, there is already a hot rod culture which mostly makes its rounds in the United States and in Sweden. That is why it should not be much of a surprise if we all went to a group of hot rodders and find them talking gibberish. Yes, hot rodders may have their own language and they may sound pretty alien to ordinary folk who are not into the hot rod culture.

One of the terms that you may have heard and yet you may be quite in the dark about is “turbocharger”. If talking with a person who also owns a hot rod, a turbocharger is basically an intake air compressor which is exhaust-driven.

Also, if you hear some hot rodder say something about a “sixty-foot time” then that person is referring to the length of time that a hot rod uses for the first sixty feet of a race. Yes, a race. You see, hot rods also do go on races.

It may not yet be Christmas but a person involved in the hot rod community can tell you about a “Christmas tree”. The Christmas tree is also referred to as the tree and it is the starting device that uses electricity which you can find between each lane in the whole race track.

These are just a few of the hot rod terms that hot rod fanatics usually use. With a little practice and maybe a little more time spent with other hot rodders, you may be able to talk just like one of them.
