Kronreif & Trunkenpolz Mattighofen, started as a metalworking shop and in 1953 they made their first motorcycle. They were the first manufacturer to produce an air-cooled four-stroke motorcycle engine for an off –road motorcycle. They were also the first to offer hydraulic clutch mechanism in all their motorcycle models. They were the first to offer a competition ready supermoto bike. They were the first motorcycle manufacturer to include both front and rear disc brakes on off-road motorcycles.

KTM motorcycles are known as the best when it comes to sports motorcycles. If the name is not familiar, their color may help; the usual colors of KTM motorcycles are orange and black. Though they may not be that very popular in the market despite producing the firsts in motorcycle technology they have received countless awards recognizing the excellent motor sport tradition they have built. They have received awards and titles and international and national motor sport championship.
